Ripple and noise, why bother! Maybe you have seen them once, a nice print screen of an oscilloscope showing a straight line. The line indicates the output Voltage of a power supply, the line is straight so the output Voltage is perfect stabilized and the ripple and noise is extreme low.
If you want to reproduce music as close to the original recording, you need a power supply with a clean and stable output voltage. A good designed external power supply will meet those requirements if you measure and test the specification inside the power supply. But you have a 3-4 Feet DC power cord, it does not matter if the cable is cheap or extreme expensive, all types of cables come with a series resistance for free.
Audio devices, especially digital sources, have a very bad habit. The power consumption or current can fluctuate for more than 20% of the average power consumption. If you take the current fluctuation and you multiply it with the series resistance, you have calculated the fluctuation of the output voltage at the end of the cable. You may call this fluctuation “ripple and noise” or whatever you want.
